This aspect concerns small-scale significant changes that can occur at local levels, such as the devastating occurrence of heat waves, drought, hurricanes, and floods. One of the greatest limitations of current models is being able to predict events at small, or local, scales—models are best at predictions of large-scale trends and occurrences. Therefore, extreme events that tend to involve limited areas (such as heat waves, floods, etc.), will also involve limited areas of agriculture, making future predictions as to the magnitude difficult. Extreme events could devastate and destroy all agricultural areas within them.
