A fluid economizer also takes advantage of cooler outside temperatures to help cool the data center. It is incorporated into either a chilled water or glycol-based cooling system. It works with a cooling tower or dry cooler to remove heat from the fluid that was captured from the air inside the data center.
Fluid economizers are popular in many data centers because they are not affected by outdoor humidity levels and are also effective over a wide range of temperatures and humidity levels. They also do not require a filtration system as no outside air enters the building. For an overview of a fluid economizer, see Figure 11-7.
