Easiest Savings

The author once worked at a factory where the executives closely timed every manufacturing step and scrutinized the pennies spent for every material used in the product. This was what they were familiar with. However, they lost many dollars in the shipping department because it was an expertise they did not have or wish to learn. Pennies saved on the shop floor were thrown away as dollars with every container shipped to a customer. Company executives may be uninterested in their electric bill because they do not see how to contain it. The easiest savings in an organization are found in the places that normally escape review.
