Dell is yet another manufacturer that has taken great strides to reduce its effect on the environment. In 2008, Dell committed to making itself the greenest technology company on the planet. Management also pledged to make its operations carbon neutral beginning in 2008. Dell has already made its headquarters in Round Rock, Texas, carbon neutral by using less energy, using green energy where available and economical, and offsetting the remaining impact.
Dell offers multiple recycling methods. Much like Hewlett-Packard, Dell has partnered with the National Cristina Foundation to refurbish machines and then donate them to disabled and economically disadvantaged children and adults. For actual recycling of personal computers, Dell will come to your home and pick up any brand of computer, keyboard, mouse, or printer. For a fee, Dell will come and take care of any obsolete hardware from businesses.
