Governing Global Desertification

In response to ongoing global transformations, the political world has turned to new governance approaches in order to adjust its problem-solving capacity to the magnitude of global challenges. The global governance of desertification can therefore be understood as a political process that involves a multiplicity of actors who interact at multiple levels and through a variety of institutional mechanisms [39,40]. Today, this process is contained, as well as guided, by a global convention that has evolved and is being implemented under the auspices of the United Nations.
